HW poem (story + narrative, & rhyming sequences)

The goldfish

I was asked to take care of my neighbor's fish,
I always had admired that pretty golden fish.

After the flushing, I was in total denial.
After the crying my eyes were red and I forgot how to smile.

But I do remember how it all began,
with a an empty bag of fish food and a glass of milk in my hand.

I was only three years old, what could I do?
I thought the fish were thirsty, and I felt considerate too.

I knew not what better to do,
I feed the fish milk, some crackers too.

Two upside down goldfish made me cry,
as I waved and watched the fishes go bye.
