One day in a town called Conformity
there lived a boy named Jamie.
All kids in the town were the same. Except Jamie.
Jamie looked normal, but something inside was different. As a small boy, jamie stopped talking. Soon after, he stopped knowing how to relate to other people.
He just didn't understand what came easily to other kids.
The way Jamie didn't understand other people, other people did not understand Jamie. He was often made fun of at school. During gym he was always the last one picked. No one wanted him on their team.
Jamie understood he was different.
Jamie sat by himself at recess, rocking back and forth. He seemed to be staring into the distance, as though he was in his own world. Some kids got curious, and others were scared.
A group of kids approached Jamie. He didn't notice them. The kids got annoyed, and began to poke him. At the sudden contact, Jamie began to scream.
The teacher, Mrs. Sheen, had heard the scream. She ran to see what was going on. Alarmed to see that Jamie was so upset, Mrs. Sheen began to yell. As she yelled, she huffed and puffed, and accidentally blew Jamie up into the sky.
Up in the sky, a strong wind blew him further along.
Until Jamie reached a whole new town. This town was called Acceptance. Here in acceptance, everyone's differences are celebrated. Jamie was welcome here.
